Construction of SWQ Volleyball Court to Begin Next Week

Washington, D.C. – Today, GUSA President Trevor Tezel  (SFS’15) and Vice President Omika Jikaria (SFS’15) announced that construction on the proposed Southwest Quad volleyball court is set to begin next week. GUSA, student groups, and the administration have been collaborating on this project for the past thirteen months, which was designed as part of the effort to revitalize underutilized spaces on campus.

“The volleyball court, along with the recently installed grill, will create a new and exciting venue for student recreation,” said GUSA Secretary of Space Connor Maytnier (COL’17). “It is my hope that students will come to view the Southwest Quad as a premier outdoor gathering space on campus and a focal point of student life, ” Tezel added.

GUSA extends gratitude to the Student Activities Commission, the Advisory Board of Club Sports, the Pisano Family, Vice President for Student Affairs Todd Olson, and Vice President for Planning and Facilities Management Robin Morey for their continued support of this project.
