YELLOW FACE
Through February 23 at Theater J
By David Henry Hwang (regional premiere)
Directed by Natsu Onoda Power
Featuring Tonya Beckman, Mark Hairston, Stan Kang, Brandon McCoy, Sue Jin Song, Al Twanmo, Rafael Untalan, and Jacob Yeh
A witty, engaging cultural satire about political correctness and racial identity. When a Caucasian actor is cast as the Asian pimp in Broadway’s Miss Saigon, David Henry Hwang leads a public outcry protesting the cultural insensitivity. But when Hwang himself unwittingly casts a white actor to play the Asian protagonist of his new play, a mélange of hilarious hypocrisy ensues. From the Tony Award-winning playwright of M. Butterfly.

The Saxatones head out to the neighborhood with GUSA, taking part as musical guests at the weekly Burleith flea market. It was a great day for both the Saxatones and for GUSA — and a terrific opportunity for both to meet more of our neighbors, and invite them back onto campus for our own events.
Stay tuned for updates on future events between our outstanding performing arts groups and our surrounding neighbors!
