Diversity Requirement
This spring marked the culmination of a major campaign led by generations of Hoyas of color and student allies outside of GUSA in The Last Campaign for Academic Reform to increase conversations about diversity and inclusion within the classroom through a curriculum requirement. On April 24, The Main Campus Executive Faculty passed a resolution instituting an "Engaging Differences" core course and overlay requirement for undergraduate students beginning with the class of 2020. The GUSA Senate passed a resolution in favor of the requirement.
Casa Latina
Last Spring the Latinx Leadership Forum began working to establish a Casa Latina on campus to provide a residential space for the latinx community to highlight latinx culture, tradition and history. The GUSA Multicultural Council co-hosted "Casa Taquiza" with the Latinx Leadership Forum on April 19 at the Black House to bring more attention to the Casa Latina proposal and provide more information about how students could get involved. The Latinx Leadership Forum will be launching Casa Latina in fall 2016!
