Welcome!
We are the Georgetown University Student Association, and since 1984 our mission has been to serve students on the Hilltop as they pursue theirs. We’re recognized as the official voice of students to the university administration and the greater community, and we take that responsibility seriously.
We believe that students have a right and a responsibility to play a role in the governance of Georgetown. To this end, we are a democratic student government that works to resolve common student problems, advocate for the inclusion of students in university processes, and make student life at Georgetown the best it can be.
GUSA is led by the Executive, which consists of a president, a vice president, and about 40 cabinet and staff members. The Senate is the legislative branch, powered by 28 senators and a handful of staff. Many other students are involved with GUSA as members of various committees, working groups, and commissions.
Every Georgetown student is a member of GUSA, and we invite all students to join us. There are dozens of opportunities to get involved. Run for the GUSA Senate, apply to one of our many committees, or simply let us know what you think!
For more information about us, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected], or better yet, stop by and visit us in person. Our office is located just off Sellinger Lounge on the main floor of the Leavey Center, and we’d love to meet you!
This year GUSA is exploring ways to make student leadership at Georgetown University more accessible to students from all socio-economic backgrounds. A first step of this process is establishing a Student Leadership Fund. The Student Leadership Fund is a resource to support students with demonstrated financial need who wish to participate in campus elections. This could include elections for GUSA Senate, Academic Councils, Hall Council, or other student offices which permit spending for campaigns.
Students interested in accessing the fund can submit a request through HoyaLink which will be processed confidentially by a Center for Student Engagement employee. Students who request and qualify for partial need will receive support for print cards for flyers and candy to hand out during campaigning. Students who request and qualify for full need will receive support for print cards, candy for campaigning, and up to $25 in reimbursable expenses for other campaign supplies.
You can access the request form at this web address:
