Project Lighthouse replaces the confusion, misinformation, and stigma surrounding mental health with knowledge and support. It is a new, anonymous online chat service open from 7pm to 1am every night which enables Georgetown students to talk to their peers about any issue - from class-related stress and sleep problems to thoughts of self harm. The Peer Supporters are trained in active listening and educated in campus resources and pathways to access care. Project Lighthouse works side-by-side with CAPS and existing Georgetown departments, but also provides a new, easy-to-access resource for Hoyas to anonymously voice their concerns to a sympathetic ear, and discuss and explain resources that could help.
Project Lighthouse applications for its inaugural class of peer supporters are closed, but there will be another round of applications next year. Feel free to contact Ben Johnson with any questions!
